Christmas Is More Fun With Headstands

We had Christmas with Brandon’s family tonight because we’re going to Georgia to visit my family this year. Somehow after present opening the girls ended up comparing flexibility and yoga moves. My mother and sister in law are both ridiculously flexible…it is crazy to me how some people are so naturally open (they do not practice yoga – they’re just freakishly flexible).

Then the headstands happened.

And my mother in law challenged Rachael and I to a contest to see who could walk on their knees in full lotus for the longest. I’m not making this up. Ready. Set.

Let the battle begin…GO.

I can’t really say who won. We all crashed and burned. 😀

Pre-silliness dinner.

Carrots, curried fruit, tasty cheese mini-muffins and scalloped potatoes. (There was also Honey Baked Ham but I passed).

Dessert was seasonal and delicious.

Gingerbread cake with lemon sauce.

Continuing to work backwards through the day…I met Sarah and Meghan (my friend who is town from California visiting her family for Christmas) at Charlotte Yoga this afternoon for a hot class with one of my favorite instructors, Suzanne.

They pretty much hated me for making them take a sweaty post-yoga picture. Class was great, as always! 🙂

I cleaned all day today in preparation for guests and a small dinner party we’re hosting on Tuesday. I fueled for the deep clean with apple cinnamon oatmeal.

Topped with peanut butter and apple butter.

I must get to bed NOW. It’s almost midnight and I have a 5 a.m. wake up call to teach BodyPump in the morning!

They’re doing great – they just got engaged a couple months ago! I’m going to see her try on wedding dresses today! 🙂
